Birth mothers, along with the concept of adoption, are greatly misunderstood. Even though she knows it’s the right decision, those around her may criticize her choice and often refuse to support it.
It takes a strong woman to choose adoption in today’s society. She deserves a support system that provides unique, personalized care throughout the entire process.
The team at Texas Christian Adoptions understands the pressure these women face. We are here to encourage and stand with each one as they decide whether adoption is the right choice for them and their child.
Receive Personalized Care From Texas Christian Adoptions
We will never pressure or manipulate you to choose adoption. From the moment you contact our agency, you make all the decisions. We are here to counsel and encourage you to find the best solution.
When you make an appointment, you will meet with our Birthparent Support Counselor. She is a birth mother with firsthand knowledge of the emotions and concerns you may be feeling. Her personal experience ensures you have someone who understands, walking with you.
You can talk with her about your situation and why you are considering placing your child for adoption. She understands the emotional struggle and provides a safe space for you to share, express your fears, and discuss the grief that comes with this choice.
Our team provides professional one-on-one counseling and holds regular support groups to help you process your feelings. By building friendships with other birth mothers, you can receive the encouragement you need.
Additionally, the counselor will listen to and learn about your priorities for your child. If there are “gotta haves” with an adoptive family, such as no other siblings or living on a farm, we’ll find them for you. When you find your match, we’ll arrange a meeting so you can start building a relationship right away.
Texas adoption law allows you to receive financial assistance from licensed agencies when it’s needed. The assistance can include living expenses such as food, maternity clothes, utilities and some forms of transportation, etc. We also allot funds for professional counseling. We can also help you get on pregnancy medicaid. Our job is to advocate for you and help you succeed.
As you move closer to your due date, we’ll work with your hospital and doctors to make certain they understand that you are considering placing your child for adoption. We’ll ensure they treat you with the respect and dignity that all mothers deserve.
Once you have delivered, we review everything once again. By law, you cannot sign any formal document until 48 hours after giving birth. Until that time, you are the legal parent of your child.
If you decide to move forward with placing your child, our team will assist with post-delivery support. This includes your plan for introducing the adoptive couple to your baby, ongoing counseling, finalization, and birth mother support groups.
