What Do I Want For My Child?
Someone once said that if love were all it took to raise a child, there would be no need for adoption. It’s so true. Raising children today is difficult. The cost of food, gas, and housing makes it hard to support yourself, let alone children.
If you find yourself currently in a place where you can’t support a child or it isn’t safe for them, adoption can be your best option. Think about how you want them to be raised.
Put together a list of your “must-haves.” Here are some things to think about:
- Do I want my child to be the oldest or have instant siblings?
- Where do I want them to grow up? In a rural area? In a large city?
- How does the couple feel about education, discipline, and religion?
- What hobbies or activities do I hope they participate in?
- Do they have, or do they plan to have, dogs or cats?
- How do they feel about an open or semi-open adoptionc?
- Do I hope they have a big extended family or a small, close one?
These are just a few of the questions you should ask yourself. As you look at couples’ bios and videos, you’ll start to get a feel for their personalities. Once you’ve selected a couple, we can arrange a meeting to confirm your choice.
How Will I Know the Couple is Safe?
To qualify to adopt, couples go through a rigorous vetting process. You can be confident we’ve fully examined their background. Here are a few of the things they have to submit to us:
- Extensive background checks, including fingerprinting.
- Provide medical and financial records, copies of tax returns, and birth and marriage certificates.
- Have a home study to ensure their home and all other household members are ready to receive a child.
- Answer questionnaires about their personal history, family, home, mental and physical health, and marriage.
- Provide references from other friends or family members.
You can be assured we have as much information as possible about each couple.
How Will I Decide?
Our adoption services are free for every expectant mother or birth mother. We will meet with you often to discuss what you are looking for. We have access to many couples waiting to adopt, and we’re confident we’ll find the right ones for you.
