You Have Choices Within Adoption

Modern Adoption

Many expectant mothers choose Modern Adoption. With a Modern Adoption plan, each adoption is customized to meet the expectant mother’s needs and wishes.

After looking through portfolios of potential adoptive couples, you can select the one you feel drawn to, and we will arrange a meeting. If you sense this is the right couple and they agree to adopt your child, we refer to it as a match!

We will attempt to set up visits with the potential adoptive family before you give birth if time allows. Before delivery, you establish your unique hospital plan, determining who will be in the delivery room with you and how you wish to introduce your child to their adoptive parents.

Types of Plans

Semi-Open Adoption

A Semi-Open plan, also known as a mediated adoption plan, is currently the most popular type of adoption. You select the adoptive family and have the opportunity to meet them and correspond with them. However, your Texas Christian Adoptions counselor handles all correspondence and arranges meetings. You do not have direct contact with the adoptive family.

Open Adoption

Often, adoptive families and birth parents move from semi-open adoption to open once everyone feels comfortable and safe with each other. With open adoption, all parties exchange identifying information and directly correspond with one another.

Closed Adoption

Very few adoptions are completely closed today, but sometimes, for everyone’s safety, it is necessary. With a closed adoption, everyone’s identity remains completely private. The courts seal the original birth certificate, and neither party has contact with the other.
